WHY I BUILT THE WORKFLOW

A mystery product is more than a clever twist.

You need the case logic, the player experience, the printable files, and a clear offer to work together. Mystery Forge gives you one connected place to build those pieces.

01

Start without the blank-page spiral

Begin with a structured premise and an editable case blueprint. The local generator creates a starting framework; you still shape the story and review every detail.

02

Make the clues earn the reveal

Build suspects, motives, timelines, evidence, clues, puzzles, and a solution that can be checked against the records—not just a dramatic ending.

03

Prepare an actual product package

Design print layouts, keep player pages apart from spoilers, and draft customer-facing listing copy from the case’s real contents.

01

Choose a blueprint that fits your players

Pick a mystery type, audience, player count, session length, difficulty, atmosphere, and setting. Mystery Forge offers 18 types and 108 authored premise frames to get your first structure moving.

NEW MYSTERY → BLUEPRINT
02

Build the case around a fair answer

Decide what happened, who is responsible, why, and what would rule out the strongest alternative. Edit the generated suspects, motives, locations, evidence, timeline, clues, and host solution.

CASE BUILDER → CASE BOARD
03

Add puzzles with a key you can recalculate

Choose among 24 puzzle categories and 53 mechanics or variants. The studio calculates supported puzzle structures and stores explanations and staged hints; check the intended reading before it reaches players.

PUZZLE LAB → TEST THE ANSWER
04

Validate the encoded structure—then playtest

Run 15 structural checks for references, rule-based exclusions, chronology, links, and puzzle calculations. A clean report is not a story-quality certificate; a human playtest is still essential.

VALIDATION CENTER → HUMAN REVIEW
05

Design, package, and prepare the offer

Choose from 12 visual themes and four paper sizes. Generate distinct player, host, and answer-key packets plus editable copy drafts. The tool does not post to marketplaces or produce PDF files directly; browser Print can save PDFs.

DESIGN STUDIO → PRODUCT PACKAGER
WATCH THE PRODUCT IN USE

See the workflow, then inspect the pages.

Both demos are captioned MP4 guides with AI-synthesized English voiceover, embedded directly in this single-file sales page. Click Play to hear the audio; burned-in captions stay visible when muted. The interface imagery is illustrative—not live software screen recordings—and the downloadable studio is the interactive product.

From blueprint to printable mystery

A guided, chapter-by-chapter tour: choose a blueprint, connect the case, inspect puzzle answers, run sample-only structural checks, then prepare the player and host packets.

Chapters & direction
  1. 00:00 · Choose audience, group size, session length, difficulty, and atmosphere.
  2. 00:28 · Establish the solution and connect suspects, timeline, and evidence. Blackwood sample: 6 suspects, 10 evidence records, 3 puzzles.
  3. 01:01 · Inspect puzzle instructions, computed answers, staged hints, and the sample-only 15-check PASS report.
  4. 01:34 · Preview the player packet separately from host notes and answers; design, export, and playtest.

  1. 01 · Start with a blueprint
Welcome to Mystery Forge. In this guided demo, I’ll show you a clear route from a case idea to printable player materials. Open the offline studio and choose New Mystery. This is a structured, local HTML tool—not an AI service—so it gives you a starting framework while you stay in charge of the story. First, choose the player experience you want. I look at group size, session length, audience, difficulty, and atmosphere before I settle on a premise.
  2. 02 · Connect the case
Choose a mystery type and setting, then establish the solution: what happened, who did it, why, and what evidence could prove it. In Case Builder, edit the suspects, motives, timeline events, records, clues, and host solution. The Case Board makes those links easier to inspect: which fact supports a theory and which detail rules out an alternative. This tour uses the included fictional Blackwood Manor sample. It has six suspects, ten evidence records, and three puzzles. Your new case will still need your own writing and review.
  3. 03 · Make puzzles checkable
Next, open Puzzle Lab. Mystery Forge includes twenty-four puzzle categories and fifty-three mechanics or variants. Generate a supported puzzle, then check the player instructions, calculated answer, explanation, and staged hints. Make sure solving it points players somewhere useful. Then run Validation Center. The supplied Blackwood sample passes fifteen structural checks. That result belongs to this sample only. Automated checks do not certify narrative fairness, clarity, or fun, so invite a fresh player to test the case.
  4. 04 · Design, review, and package
Finish in Design Studio. Choose from twelve print themes and four paper sizes, then preview the player pages separately from host notes and answers. The studio exports self-contained HTML and TXT files; use your browser’s Print dialog to make a PDF, then inspect every page. Product Packager drafts descriptions, contents, FAQs, and print instructions, but it does not publish listings. My order is simple: review the output, playtest with people who do not know the solution, fix confusion, and only then prepare the offer.

Price, orders, fees, and costs

A narrated worked example at $17 USD: 20 orders, assumed 10% fees, 5% refund reserve, $50 promotion, and $10 other cost gives $229 estimated contribution before excluded expenses. Hypothetical only.

Chapters & direction
  1. 00:00 · Offer price: $17 USD, one-time; the scenario is hypothetical.
  2. 00:32 · 20 orders × $17 = $340 gross; subtract assumed $34 fees and a $17 refund reserve.
  3. 01:02 · Subtract $50 promotion and $10 other cost: $229 estimated contribution before excluded costs.
  4. 01:34 · Track visits, orders, refunds, fees, and costs. No income or sales promise.
Read the narration transcript
  1. 01 · Start with the offer price
The Mystery Forge creator bundle is listed at seventeen US dollars, one time, with no recurring subscription. Let’s separate a price from a promise. The price tells you what one customer would pay; it cannot tell you whether anyone will find the product, buy it, or enjoy it. The calculator on this page is for planning assumptions. Change the inputs to match your own checkout fees, audience, refund experience, and costs. The example we’re about to walk through is hypothetical—not sales history or a forecast.
  2. 02 · Calculate gross, then subtract
Here is the made-up scenario: twenty orders at seventeen dollars each produce three hundred and forty dollars gross. Suppose fees average ten percent; that is thirty-four dollars. Set a five-percent refund allowance, or seventeen dollars. Gross revenue is only the starting line, not your take-home amount. A real platform may calculate payment, tax, currency, and refund costs differently. Replace the assumptions with the fee schedule and transaction reports from your actual checkout provider.
  3. 03 · Include promotion and other costs
Now subtract fifty dollars of promotion and ten dollars of other monthly cost. Under these assumptions, the simple estimated contribution is two hundred and twenty-nine dollars. That is before taxes, chargebacks, currency conversion, labor, and any cost you have not entered. It is not necessarily profit, and it is not a customer result. If your fee rate, refunds, or marketing cost changes, the estimate changes too. The calculator is here to make those assumptions visible—not to predict a business outcome.
  4. 04 · Track real metrics; test carefully
Track product-page visits and completed orders to calculate conversion. Divide gross revenue by orders to find average order value. Record refunds, actual payment fees, promotion, and variable costs so you can estimate contribution per order. Change one assumption at a time and compare it with real records. Also test file delivery and make sure the stated fourteen-calendar-day refund process works. Results vary with the product, audience, platform, and execution. Mystery Forge does not guarantee income, sales, profit, or marketplace approval. These numbers only demonstrate the arithmetic.
Demo transparency: the clips have AI-synthesized English voiceover and burned-in captions, with illustrative interface panels—not live application screen recordings. The built-in sample data and feature counts correspond to the supplied Mystery Forge studio. No customer results, testimonials, marketplace integrations, or guaranteed earnings are depicted.

THE MONEY SIDE · WITH THE MATH VISIBLE

Plan the unit economics. Don’t promise an outcome.

The product can help you create a digital mystery offer. It cannot guarantee traffic, buyers, profit, marketplace approval, or income. Start with assumptions; replace them with your actual results.

Illustrative monthly model

Change the inputs. Outputs recalculate in your browser. These are example assumptions—not sales data.

Gross revenue—
Estimated fees—
Refund allowance—
Contribution / order*—
Estimated contribution after the inputs above—
Approx. break-even orders*—
Contribution margin*—

*Before other taxes, chargebacks, currency conversion, labor, platform-specific payout costs, and any expense you have not entered. Break-even is a simplified estimate; verify it with your records.

How I read the numbers

A healthy-looking gross sales figure can still hide weak contribution. Track the costs you actually pay and make one small, measurable change at a time.

MetricFormula / use
Conversion rateOrders ÷ product-page visits. If visits happen but orders do not, test the offer clarity, sample previews, price fit, and checkout friction.
Average order valueGross revenue ÷ orders. Once one case is clear, test a genuinely useful themed bundle to see whether buyers value it.
Contribution per orderPrice − fees − refund allowance − variable costs. Compare this with paid customer-acquisition cost before scaling ads.
Refund rateRefunded orders ÷ completed orders. Read the reasons; clarify format, age suitability, printing, and exactly what is included.
Customer acquisition costAttributed promotion spend ÷ new customers. Tag links and count all promotion spend; don’t scale a channel you haven’t measured.

Important: the editable examples are not my revenue, not a customer case study, and not an earnings prediction. Platform fees vary; taxes, chargebacks, refunds, exchange rates, demand, competition and promotion costs can change the result.

THREE PURELY HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLES

Same product idea. Different assumptions.

Illustrations below use an assumed 10% fee rate. Refunds and taxes are not included; they are not a promise or a benchmark.

Sell a single digital case

Start with one complete download for a defined audience. State exactly what the buyer gets, how many can play, the file format, and printing steps.

B

Test a themed bundle or series

Once the first case is clear, experiment with related mysteries as a bundle. Compare actual order value and conversion; don't assume a bundle will sell more.

C

Explore group-use editions

Consider classroom, facilitator, or event licenses only after you define the permitted use, check marketplace rules, and confirm rights to every included asset.

Creator's launch sequence: publish one clear offer → observe qualified visits and buyer questions → record orders, refunds, and promotion costs → revise one thing at a time. No method can promise a particular result.
INCLUDED CREATOR BONUSES

BEFORE YOU BUY

Good questions deserve straight answers.

What exactly is Mystery Forge?

A downloadable, self-contained HTML application that runs in a modern browser. It is an offline mystery-printable studio with a local blueprint-driven generator, case builder, puzzle and evidence tools, validation checks, print design, and product copy packager.

Is this a generative AI tool?

No. It uses authored premise frames and structured local rules. Puzzle answers are calculated by supported algorithms. It does not call an AI service, interpret arbitrary prompts, or turn special-requirement notes into a finished story automatically. You edit and review the generated case.

Will it automatically publish my product or make sales?

No. The packager drafts copy for several marketplaces, but there are no marketplace integrations or analytics. You create or connect your own checkout, publish the listing, handle customer support, and verify all fees and platform requirements. Sales and earnings are not guaranteed.

What files are included, and are PDFs included?

The studio creates separate self-contained HTML player, host, and answer-key packets plus TXT support and listing copy. The companion creator playbook is HTML and the metrics tracker is XLSX. The studio does not include pre-generated PDFs; you can use browser Print / Save as PDF and check the result before distributing it.

Do I need an account, internet connection, or subscription?

No. Mystery Forge is a standalone browser file and is designed to work locally without an account, external API, or monthly subscription. Your project data stays in your browser/device unless you choose to export or share it.

What are the minimum device requirements?

Use a recent desktop or laptop browser such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox for the best experience. Printing is handled by your browser. Review the print preview and choose the matching paper size before distributing pages.

Is the included sample suitable for children?

The built-in Blackwood sample is a non-graphic fictional murder mystery with a suggested age of 16+. Mystery Forge also has children’s detective and classroom mystery options, but the creator should review and edit content for the intended audience before use.

How does the refund work?

Submit a refund request within 14 calendar days of the purchase date using the support email shown at checkout. The stated policy is a 100% refund of the purchase price to the original payment method. Payment-provider timing and applicable consumer law may affect processing. There is no earnings guarantee.

Does the validation score mean the story is guaranteed to be fair?

No. The validator checks encoded relationships, selected rule-based facts, timeline consistency, puzzle calculations, and other structure. It does not understand every sentence or prove that real players will understand the story. Human editorial review and playtesting remain necessary.

What should I review before I sell a case I create?

Playtest with fresh players, check print readability, review audience and content notes, verify copyright and usage rights for imported material, confirm your license and refund terms, and confirm the displayed $17 USD price, then set the creator name, support email, checkout link, and legal-page details on this sales page.

A NOTE FROM THE CREATOR

Build for the player first.
Measure the business honestly.

“I want Mystery Forge to help you move from an idea to a case you can explain, test, and improve. The studio gives you a structure; your judgment gives the mystery its voice. Your business results come from the product, the audience, and the work you do after export—not from a guarantee on this page.”
